Type Locality and Naming

Along the Aidyn stream, N. Nuratau Ridge. A.I. Kim et al., 1972. Stratotype section in the basin of the right unnamed tributary of the Abartkan Say.

Lithology and Thickness

At the base, clayey-sandy limestones, wavy-bedded (2.5 m); Above - algal, stromatoporoid, coral-brachiopod-stromatoporoid, pelsparrite limestones; massive with interlayers of micritsparite limestones, slightly dolomitic. Thickness 240m.

Fossils

According to A.I. Kim, S.K. Pivnyu (1987), the deposits of the Aydinsay Beds Fm represent a biostromal massif, in which layers contain a large number of stromatoporoids, brachiopods, tabulates, gastropods, ostracods, crinoids, trilobites, corals. Stromatoporoids include - Clatrodictyon variolare (Koscn.), Cl. microstriatellum Riab., Cl. kurdriavzevi Riab., Cl. regulare (Ros.), Cl. linnarsoni Nich., Cl. pexisum (Yavor.), Cl. mohicanum Nest., Ecclimadictyon fastigiatum Nich., E. microfastigiatum (Riab.), E. pandum Nest., E. macrotuberculatum (Riab.), E. magnum Nest., Simplexodictyon validum(Nest.), S. podolicum (Yavor.), S. yavorsky Nest., S. pictus Less., S. torosum Less., Arakeosustroma stelliparratum Nest., Syringostromella Borealis (Nich.), characteristic of Wenlock and Ludlow deposits; Wenlock tabulates - Mesofavosites ex gr. vulgaris Lel., Nuratina asiatica Kim et Lel., Subalveolites sp. (ex gr. crispus Kim), Mesosolenia anormalis (Chekh.), Palaeofavosites ex gr. balticus Kuzhin., Cladopora (Taxopora) ex gr. seriata Hall., Heliolites ex gr. lindstromi Bond.; brachiopods upper part of the complex - Harpidium subaliens Sap., Conchidium aff. sculptum (Lind.), C. largum Sap., C. Hospes (Barr.), Atripoidea linguata linguata (Barr.), Spirigerina supramarginalis Khalf.; trilobites - Scharyia coronaŠnajdr., characteristic of Wenlock-Ludlow.
